THE REPLAY

Play It Agin Sports  Magazine Collection

THE REPLAY

BRAND ASSET | MAGAZINE DESIGN

I was hired to create a magazine for Play It Again Sports, a brand built on a circular model that “recycles” sportswear and equipment through community participation. Instead of letting outgrown or unused gear sit in storage or end up in a landfill, the company encourages customers to bring in their quality used items so they can be resold, reused, and enjoyed again.

Using the brand’s established guidelines and vision, I designed The Replay, a magazine concept created to spotlight the company’s mission of giving sports gear a second life. Bold athletic photography, energetic compositions, and sport-specific graphics work together to communicate movement and accessibility. Every visual choice reinforces the idea of continuity and the value of keeping gear in play.

PROJECT STRATEGY

The strategy behind The Replay focused on visually expressing the cycle of reuse that defines Play It Again Sports. From the start, the goal was to make the concept of “recycling” feel active, athletic, and central to the brand’s message.

A key element in this approach is the stylized recycle arrow integrated into the “E” of Replay. This subtle but intentional detail creates a built-in visual cue that symbolizes renewal, circulation, and the idea of sports gear starting a new chapter. It anchors the entire identity of the publication and becomes a shorthand for the brand’s circular business model.

Repeating sport-specific ball motifs along the edges of the covers further emphasizes this cycle, suggesting motion, repetition, and gear moving through multiple hands. The dynamic athlete photography reinforces the idea that reused gear is still powerful, functional, and ready for another round.

Together, these strategic choices create a magazine that not only showcases sports culture but also communicates the sustainability and reuse at the heart of Play It Again Sports.
